Storage containers for storing faulty or damaged batteries with increased fire risk and minimizing toxic fumes associated with thermal runaway. The storage container is lined with a fireproof thermal insulation material and is fire resistant for 90 minutes. Additional padding and insulation material, which can absorb leaking electrolytes, completely surrounds the Li-Ion batteries to be stored. This means that even in the event of a thermal runaway, which is a chemical reaction with the development of excessive heat, the danger of fire spreading is prevented and the fire occurs. The amount of toxic gases is minimized.
